Below you will find a list of planned projects and goals for our organization. Your genorosity will help make these plans become reality!
We plan to take a team to play in this tournament in June 2024 to build excitement on the island about baseball, and aid in bringing tourism dollars to Sint Maarten, plus encourage more teams to do the same. If you are interested in bringing a team to the tournament, please reach out.
We would like to send a group of coaches to Sint Maarten to hold a coaches clinic on baseball and softball. We would cover typical topics like hitting, fielding, and pitching, as well as include things such as practice organization, the mental game, dealing with parents and umpires, weight training and conditioning, and path to continuing education through baseball in the United States.
Open Borders would team up with other coaches and organizations to run a first class player clinic/showcase to gather data on players in Sint Maarten and surrounding areas, and promote those players to coaches in the United States, as well as online.
We would do a parent/player seminar on the process of getting to the United States to play in the summers for exposure, on an exchange program in high school, the recruiting process for college, and how all of this is dependent on them taking care of their education to ensure they are prepared when an opportunity comes their way.
The netting at Jose Lake Field on the backstop needs to be totally replaced
Currently there are no bullpen mounds on either side of the field at Jose Lake.
The two containers used for office space and equipment storage were badly damaged in a hurricane. Both need to be replaced and upgraded so they have space to store equipment, and an office for the Baseball Federation to operate out of.
There is a prime spot for a baseball field/training facility in a new development on the island. It is centrally located so players from both Dutch and French sides of the island could train there, as well as visiting players from other contries.
